In early January 2017, the Twelve Points team had the distinct pleasure of watching co-founder and principal Dave Clayman receive the National Eagle Scout Association Outstanding Eagle Award (NOESA) at a recognition dinner in Burlington, MA. Twelve Points was founded on the twelve principles of scouting, which include trustworthiness, loyalty, kindness and helpfulness. Not only did two Twelve Points team members (Dave Clayman and Jared Bilodeau) distinguished themselves at a young age by becoming Eagle Scouts, but also the firm as a whole is committed to giving back and serving others.
“I’ve seen firsthand how Dave serves his clients, community, and everyone he comes into contact with,” states Bilodeau, an associate wealth advisor at Twelve Points. “He is one of the most hardworking, generous and kind men I have ever met and he truly embodies the Twelve Points. I can think of no other person that deserves this award more than Dave and I am proud to call him a friend and lucky to work alongside him every day.”
The NOESA is a prestigious recognition granted by the local council’s National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) committee to Eagle Scouts who have demonstrated outstanding achievement at the local, state, or regional level. Each council NESA committee may present two NOESA honors per year, with the option of awarding an additional NOESA for every 100 Eagle Scout Awards certified the previous year. Clayman was nominated by the Spirit of America Council, BSA, of which he is an active member, in recognition of his contributions to the local community.
Approximately 500 people were in attendance at the recognition dinner, including almost 300 new Eagle Scouts representing 116 units in the council, 70 cities/towns and seven districts. In addition to an introduction to the Eagle Scout Class of 2016, the evening’s events featured a presentation to 2016 Honoree Arthur Mabbett, Chairman, CEO and Founder of Mabbett & Associates, Inc. and remarks by Keynote Speaker John Judge, Distinguished Eagle Scout and President and CEO of the Appalachian Mountain Club. In addition to Dave, there were two other local recipients of the NOESA: Jamie O’Brien, General Manager of the Topsfield Fair and Seth Holbrook, founding partner of Holbrook & Murphy.
“To say I am humbled by this recognition is an understatement,” Clayman says. “To be recognized with two other great men is a true honor. This award isn’t just for me though, it is truly shared by everyone on the great team at Twelve Points, who are the lifeblood of my success in the business world, have embraced the twelve points of Scouting that comprise our company’s core values and share my passion for service to our community.”
