Igor Tiguy, CFP®, AIF®, MSPFP, Director, Planning Services
Not only does this field allow me to make the best financial decisions for my family, but it also allows me to share what I’ve learned with others. I enjoy helping to guide them through financial decisions.
After an accounting teacher showed his class the power of compounding, Igor’s passion for finance was solidified.
His strong math background and interest in helping immigrant business owners like his mother led him to pursue a career in personal finance and investment management. Igor has spent over 15 years aiding affluent families in the design and implementation of sophisticated wealth, investment, tax, estate, retirement and philanthropic strategies.
Igor’s investment planning experience began at Pillar Financial Advisors (now Argent Wealth Management), one of the first fee-only Registered Investment Advisors in the country, where he worked in asset allocation, portfolio construction and investment manager research. He spent over 7 years working in the Personal Financial Services division at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the largest public accounting firm in the world, providing tax and financial planning services to private equity and venture capital investors, corporate executives and private business owners.
After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Finance from Bentley University, Igor received an M.S. in Personal Financial Planning from the Elkin B. McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley College. In 2007, he became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner. In February 2015, Igor became an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designee, considered the gold standard for fiduciary care in the financial services industry. He was recently featured in a profile for ThinkAdvisor, on Financial Advisor IQ in an article on the best bond values and on CNBC in an article on the pros and cons of hedge funds in portfolios.
In addition to finance, Igor has a passion for poker, playing semi-professionally for over 10 years. He has competed in over 10,000 poker tournaments and averaged a 30% return on investment for every dollar he’s invested in a poker tournament buy-in.
Igor is a board member and serves on the investment committee of The Frederick E. Weber Charities. For over 100 years, the foundation has been providing financial grants to social and human service organizations serving low-income and disadvantaged families and individuals in the Boston area.
Born in Moldova, Igor moved to the U.S. at the age of thirteen and grew up in Connecticut, near New Haven. He moved to Boston to attend college and has remained in Massachusetts ever since. Igor currently resides in Billerica, MA with his wife, Ashley, and their daughter Mila.
